The Institute of Geophysics operates two visitor centers, where you can learn interesting facts about earthquakes, volcanoes, the structure of the Earth\u2019s interior and the processes that take place there. Visitors can see the instruments we use to monitor the heart of the Earth and learn the principles on which the measurements are based. In Ka\u0161persk\u00e9 Hory, it is possible to go below ground via old mining works. Expositions include an interactive part, so they are also suitable for children or school groups.<\/p>\n

Ka\u0161persk\u00e9 Hory<\/strong> – museum of seismometry and tour to seismic sensor in the Krist\u00fdna adit
The historic Krist\u00fdna adit, which dates back to 1805, was originally used for gold mining. Now, sensitive seismic sensors are located here. Since its establishment in 1960s, Ka\u0161persk\u00e9 Hory station (KHC) has been part of the Czech regional seismic network as well as the world network of seismic stations. It belongs to one of the most sensitive in the world.<\/p>\n
