Magnetic fabric is a&nbsp;sensitive recorder of rock deformation and flow in rocks, which permits complex deformation histories to be resolved with numerical modelling. However, major deficiencies in this approach lie with limitations in microstructural analysis and knowledge of mineral magnetic properties. Here, we propose a&nbsp;novel method of modelling rock magnetic properties by exploiting recent progress in microstructure 3D imaging and quantum-mechanical calculations of mineral properties. We will test our approach by investigating two examples of localization of rock deformation; a&nbsp;key part of this test will include defining the dependence of magneto-crystalline anisotropy on chemical composition. We plan to evaluate the contribution of 2D and 3D microstructural methods and potential of the microstructure based modelling for the magnetic fabric interpretation. Our approach can provide also a&nbsp;path to inverse evaluation of unknown rock texture from magnetic fabric data.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333; font-size: 18px;\">Aims<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Model of magnetic fabric based on 3D microstructure, numerical modelling and quantum-mechanical calculations.
