hover_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243; sticky_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243;]<\/p>\n<h3>User guide<\/h3>\n<p>The software is structured in the following directories: <strong>Data, Figures, Output, Programs.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h4>Run the code<\/h4>\n<p>The decomposition is run by a&nbsp;script called <strong>MT_decomposition.m<\/strong> stored in the Programs directory.<\/p>\n<h4>Input data<\/h4>\n<p>Input moment tensors should be stored in the Data directory. The standard name of the input file is <strong>\/Data\/moments.dat.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The input data are formed by six columns containing the components of moment tensors. Each line consists of values of one moment tensor:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>M(1,1), M(2,2), M(3,3), M(2,3), M(1,3), M(1,2).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Transformation relations from the coordinate system of the Harvard CMT catalogue:<\/p>\n<p>M(1,1) =\u00a0 \u00a0Mtt; \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 M(1,2) = \u2013Mtp; \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 M(1,3) = \u00a0\u00a0Mrt;<br \/>M(2,1) = \u2013Mtp; \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 M(2,2) =\u00a0 \u00a0Mpp; \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 M(2,3) = \u2013Mrp;<br \/>M(3,1) =\u00a0 \u00a0Mrt; \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 M(3,2) = \u2013Mrp; \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 M(3,3) = \u00a0\u00a0Mrr;<\/p>\n<h4>Output<\/h4>\n<p>The output file is stored in the Output directory. The standard name of the output file is <strong>\/Output\/results.mat<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The output includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>strike1, dip1, rake1<\/strong> (angles defining the orientation of the DC part of the moment tensor &#8211; the first conjugate solution),<\/li>\n<li><strong>strike2, dip2, rake2<\/strong> (angles defining the orientation of the DC part of the moment tensor &#8211; the second conjugate solution)<\/li>\n<li><strong>dc, clvd and iso<\/strong> (percentages of the double-couple, compensated linear vector dipole and isotropic components).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Figures<\/h4>\n<p>Figures are stored in the <strong>Figures<\/strong> directory. The code generates the following figures:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>P_T_axes.png<\/strong> (focal sphere with the P and T axes),<\/li>\n<li><strong>nodal_lines.png<\/strong> (nodal lines in the equal-area, lower-hemisphere projection),<\/li>\n<li><strong>diamond_plot.png<\/strong> (CLVD-ISO diamond plot).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Example<\/h4>\n<p>As an example, we provide the input file called &#8216;<strong>moments.dat<\/strong>&#8216; with moment tensors of 20 micro-earthquakes from the West Bohemia swarm area (for the analysis of these data, see Vavry\u010duk 2015b). The output file is called &#8216;<strong>results.mat<\/strong>&#8216;.<\/p>\n<p>To run the code just call <strong>MT_decomposition.m<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h4>Copyright<\/h4>\n<p>The code can be freely used for research purposes only. In the case of publishing the results obtained by this code, please, refer to the paper of Vavry\u010duk (2015a).
