Before running the code, change your Matlab directory to <strong>\/Programs\/<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h4>Input parameters<\/h4>\n<p>Input parameters for individual events should be stored in the Data directory. The standard name of the input file is<strong> \/Data\/event_list.txt<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The input parameters are formed by nine columns. Each line consists of values of one event:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>ID<\/strong> &#8211; identification name of the event<\/li>\n<li><strong>W1, W2<\/strong> &#8211; times of the beginning of the window (increasing part from 0 to 1)<\/li>\n<li><strong>W3, W4<\/strong> &#8211; times of the end of the window (decreasing part from 1 to 0)<\/li>\n<li><strong>fr_1, fr_2<\/strong> &#8211; the lower and upper corner frequency of the band-pass filter<\/li>\n<li><strong>reference_station<\/strong> &#8211; name of the station, for which the polarity of the wavelet is known<\/li>\n<li><strong>reference_polarity<\/strong> &#8211; polarity of the wavelet at the reference station<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Control parameters<\/h4>\n<p>Control parameters are stored in the Matlab script<strong> \/Programs\/configuration_PCA.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The following parameters control the processing of seismic traces:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>t_min_show, t_max_show<\/strong> &#8211; time interval for plotting seismic traces (in sec)<\/li>\n<li><strong>dt<\/strong> &#8211; sampling interval used for calculating tiny shifts ofwaveforms<\/li>\n<li><strong>N<\/strong> &#8211; maximum number of samples in seismic traces<\/li>\n<li><strong>t_shift_limit<\/strong> &#8211; maximum shift (in sec) for alignment of traces by cross-correlation<\/li>\n<li><strong>i_int<\/strong> &#8211; option for integrating velocity records to displacementrecords<\/li>\n<li><strong>i_zero_phase<\/strong> &#8211; option for using the zero-phase band-pass filter<\/li>\n<li><strong>i_plot<\/strong> &#8211; option for plotting figures<\/li>\n<li><strong>i_plot_save<\/strong> &#8211; option for saving figures<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Input data<\/h3>\n<p>Input data for individual events should be stored in the <strong>\/Data\/Events<\/strong> directory. The standard name of the input files is <strong>\/Data\/Events\/ID.mat<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The data files contain data structure event_data:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>event_data.stations<\/strong> &#8211; names of the stations<\/li>\n<li><strong>event_data.components<\/strong> &#8211; components identifying the traces<\/li>\n<li><strong>event_data.sampling_rate<\/strong> &#8211; sampling rate of seismic records<\/li>\n<li><strong>event_data.traces<\/strong> &#8211; individual seismic traces<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Output<\/h4>\n<p>The output files are stored in the Output directory. The standard names of the output files are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>\/Output\/ID_pca_amplitudes.txt<\/strong> &#8211; contains names of station and the PCA amplitudes<\/li>\n<li><strong>\/Output\/ID_wavelet.txt<\/strong> &#8211; contains the common PCA wavelet<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Figures<\/h4>\n<p>Figures are stored in the Figures directory. The code generates the following postscript figures:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>\/Figures\/ID_data.eps<\/strong> &#8211; raw and filtered seismic traces,<\/li>\n<li><strong>\/Figures\/ID_data_pc.eps<\/strong> &#8211; filtered seismic traces with the principal components,<\/li>\n<li><strong>\/Figures\/ID_pc.eps<\/strong> &#8211; the first (in red) and second (in black) principal components.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Example<\/h4>\n<p>As an example, we provide the input files for two micro-earthquakes from the West Bohemia swarm area (see Vavry\u010duk et al., 2017).<\/p>\n<p>To run the code: change your Matlab directory to <strong>\/Programs\/<\/strong> and call <strong>PCA_wavelet.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h4>Copyright<\/h4>\n<p>The code can be freely used for research purposes only.
