The primary host in\u00a0Czechia is\u00a0the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ig.cas.cz\/\">Institute of\u00a0Geophysics of\u00a0the Czech Academy of\u00a0Sciences<\/a>\u00a0where the research part of\u00a0the fellowship is\u00a0taking place; the Institute of\u00a0Geology and Paleontology at\u00a0the Faculty of\u00a0Science, Charles University, hosts his course focused on\u00a0principles of\u00a0geodynamic evolution of\u00a0sedimentary basins and their modelling.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5><strong>About the Instructor<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/artsandsciences.syracuse.edu\/people\/faculty\/moucha-robert\/#Biography\">Robert Moucha<\/a>\u00a0is\u00a0currently an\u00a0Associate Professor and Director of\u00a0Undergraduate Studies at\u00a0the Department of\u00a0Earth Sciences at\u00a0Syracuse University, New York. Born in\u00a0former Czechoslovakia, Rob has lived for most of\u00a0his life in\u00a0North America; he\u00a0received his PhD degree in\u00a02003 from the University of\u00a0Toronto.<\/p>\n<p>His research interests have been focused on\u00a0the dynamics of\u00a0the Earth\u2019s mantle and crustal processes and their effects on\u00a0the surface of\u00a0our planet. Current areas of\u00a0Rob\u2019s research include: landscape evolution in\u00a0response to\u00a0tectonics, changes in\u00a0climate and sea level; development of\u00a0density models for the mantle by\u00a0integrating seismic tomography and mantle convection modeling; melt generation and extraction during continental rifting; carbon cycle of\u00a0the Hadean-Archean Earth; and surface deformation in\u00a0response to\u00a0flat-slab subduction.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>About the Course<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>The course is\u00a0recommended mainly to\u00a0Master\u2019s and PhD &#8211; level students in\u00a0Earth and other physical sciences including Physical Geography or\u00a0applied geoscience programs, but in\u00a0general all students interested in\u00a0geodynamic processes and their modelling are welcome. ERASMUS students are welcome.\u00a0<strong>The language of\u00a0the course in\u00a0English only.\u00a0<\/strong>Principal\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/is.cuni.cz\/studium\/index.php\">SIS<\/a>\u00a0information: 3 e-credits, 3 hours\/week; code\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/is.cuni.cz\/studium\/predmety\/index.php?id=d0659cb14f2b7adc06a88c758c4cf182&amp;tid=&amp;do=predmet&amp;kod=MG420P18\">MG420P18<\/a>.
