The 2026 edition took place at the PVA Expo Prague Let\u0148any exhibition center from Thursday, June 4, to Saturday, June 6, 2026. Admission was free of charge.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"290\" data-end=\"630\">More than 100 exhibits were on display, including presentations from 40 institutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences, universities, other research institutions, and companies. Once again, the fair attracted tens of thousands of visitors\u2014from school groups and families with children to anyone interested in the latest scientific discoveries.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"632\" data-end=\"772\">Visitors had a&nbsp;unique opportunity to meet scientists in person, gain insight into their work, and try a&nbsp;wide range of experiments firsthand.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"774\" data-end=\"874\">Our exhibit, titled <strong data-start=\"794\" data-end=\"827\">\u201cGradual and Sudden Changes,\u201d<\/strong> was divided into several interactive stations:<\/p>\n<h4 data-section-id=\"n7v5wk\" data-start=\"876\" data-end=\"906\">Create Your Own Earthquake<\/h4>\n<p data-start=\"907\" data-end=\"1198\">During an earthquake, we can feel the ground moving beneath our feet, buildings shaking, and often hear rumbling sounds. At this station, a&nbsp;real seismic station was installed. Visitors could stomp on the ground and observe how these highly sensitive instruments detect and record vibrations.<\/p>\n<h4 data-section-id=\"1r4isq4\" data-start=\"1200\" data-end=\"1215\">Shake Table<\/h4>\n<p data-start=\"1216\" data-end=\"1564\">A shake table (or seismic vibration table) is a&nbsp;device used in research and engineering to simulate the effects of earthquakes on various structures. It reproduces the movements that occur during real earthquakes, allowing researchers to test and evaluate the resistance of buildings, bridges, infrastructure, and other structures to seismic waves.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1566\" data-end=\"1692\">Children and adults alike could build their own structures and test whether they could withstand simulated earthquake shaking.<\/p>\n<h4 data-section-id=\"ugpf1u\" data-start=\"1694\" data-end=\"1724\">Build Your Own Seismometer<\/h4>\n<p data-start=\"1725\" data-end=\"1924\">We demonstrated how seismometers work in a&nbsp;simple and engaging way. Visitors tested a&nbsp;prototype of a&nbsp;basic seismometer and could take home a&nbsp;recording of their own \u201cearthquake\u201d\u2014a personal seismogram.<\/p>\n<h4 data-section-id=\"16ss1wj\" data-start=\"1926\" data-end=\"1965\">Volcano and Caldera Formation Model<\/h4>\n<p data-start=\"1966\" data-end=\"2194\">Using a&nbsp;model of an \u201cinflatable\u201d flour volcano, we demonstrated the processes that occur as magma rises toward the surface. We also showed how a&nbsp;caldera forms when the summit of a&nbsp;volcano collapses into an emptied magma chamber.<\/p>\n<h4 data-section-id=\"84g06b\" data-start=\"2196\" data-end=\"2219\">Interactive Sandbox<\/h4>\n<p data-start=\"2220\" data-end=\"2427\">The Augmented Reality Sandbox is a&nbsp;sandbox equipped with a&nbsp;projector and 3D sensors (Kinect technology). Visitors could create their own landscapes in sand and watch changes projected onto them in real time.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2429\" data-end=\"2806\">Earth\u2019s surface is a&nbsp;dynamic environment shaped by mountain-building processes, erosion, sedimentation, river systems, and human activity. Visitors became world-builders, experimenting with different landscapes<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2429\" data-end=\"2806\">and conditions\u2014from mountain ranges to river valleys. The projection system and 3D sensors allowed the terrain to change instantly in response to their modifications.<\/p>\n<h4 data-section-id=\"kwapta\" data-start=\"2808\" data-end=\"2833\">Your Face as a&nbsp;3D Map<\/h4>\n<p data-start=\"2834\" data-end=\"3151\">The \u201cFace Topography\u201d program playfully demonstrates how geomorphologists use computational tools today.
