Dr. Josef Pek (1952) has been with the Institute of Geophysics since 1975. Currently, he works as a scientist in the Department of Geomagnetism. He studied physics/geophysics at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of the Charles University in Prague, where he graduated in 1975. He received his PhD degree in 1985 at the Geophysical Institute of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences in Prague.  The main research interests of J. Pek are theory and applications of passive electromagnetic induction soundings of the Earth, specifically magnetotellurics and geomagnetic depth sounding.  In recent years, he has been dealing mainly with the numerical modeling and inversion of electromagnetic data in heterogeneous and anisotropic structures.
