Nooshin Najafipour has been a PhD student at the Institute of Geophysics since July 2021, working under the guidance of Dr. Christian Sippl. With a background in computer engineering and a master’s degree in geophysics-seismology, her research interests focus on automated event detection, phase picking, and subduction zone processes.

Nooshin’s passion for geophysics stems from over 15 years of experience in the industry, where she has worked with seismic networks and induced seismicity. She has made significant contributions to the field, presenting research at international conferences and publishing her findings on topics like coda wave attenuation (on Makran Subduction Zone in Makran region, South east of Iran). Her current research aims to explore tectonically active regions around the globe, with a special emphasis on subduction zone processes.

Research interests:

  • automated event detection, phase picking
  • subduction zone processes
  • Microseismicity
