Landscapes on the edge: river intermittency in the geological past, present and future

Srdečně Vás zveme na pokračování seminárního cyklu Dynamická planeta Země.

Termín: 26. 3. v 15:40

Místo konání: Přírodovědecká fakulta UK – Albertov  6, Velká paleontologická posluchárna

Alex’s research lies at the interface between active tectonics, climate, erosion and sedimentation at the Earth’s surface. He uses a combination of field, observational, remote sensing and modelling approaches. He is passionate about (i) active faulting, geohazards and landscape evolution; (ii) the tectonic, climatic and lithological controls on sediment in river and submarine channel systems, and the implications this has for depositional stratigraphy on a variety of spatial scales; (iii) Quantitative palaeohydrology and landscape sensitivity to environmental change in the past, present and future.

He studied in Cambridge, and did his PhD in Edinburgh. He then moved to London, where he is still active as reader in Landscape Dynamics at the Imperial College of London.
