Geofyzikální ústav Akademie věd České republiky je veřejná výzkumná instituce, jejímž posláním je provádět základní a aplikovaný výzkum ve vědách o Zemi, udržovat síť zařízení pro geofyzikální pozorování a podílet se na vzdělávání a informování veřejnosti o vědeckých otázkách zásadního společenského významu.
